Frequently Asked Questions

Can you tell me how much a tattoo will cost over the phone or if I email you a picture can you tell me how much it will cost?

Unfortunately, we can’t price tattoos based on descriptions over the phone or images emailed to us.  We need to see the image in person, how large or small you’d like it, and where it is going on your body.  If you don’t have a particular image with you when you arrive our artists will be more than happy to assist you in what you can expect price wise.  This will ensure that we are giving you a fair and accurate price for your tattoo.  You are more than welcome to stop by either shop during regular business hours and we’ll be more than happy to assist you with pricing out your tattoo.  Or, if there is a particular artist you’d like to work with we can schedule you a free consultation with that artist to discuss your tattoo.

How bad does a tattoo/piercing hurt?

The pain associated with getting a tattoo or body piercing depends on the area of the body getting tattooed or pierced.  Some parts of the body are universally known for being slightly more painful than others.  However, it also depends on how well or poorly the person deals with pain (everyone is different).  Our tattoo artists and piercer are well-trained on how to make you as comfortable as possible when getting a tattoo or piercing.

Everyone’s body varies on how quickly their tattoo or piercing will heal.  On average most tattoos take 2 to 3 weeks to fully heal.  For more information on tattoo aftercare visit our aftercare section.

Are there any parts of the body that you won’t tattoo/pierce?

Please contact any of our tattoo artists or our piercer to discuss where you would like to be tattooed or pierced.  They will be able to advise you on if a particular part of the body is able to be tattooed or pierced and whether or not they will be able to do it.

For a tattoo, do you charge by the piece or by the hour?

If your tattoo is able to be finished in one sitting then it will be given a set price.  If the tattoo you are getting is very large and/or detailed and unable to be completed in a single session then the tattoo artist’s hourly rate will apply.  Hourly pricing is a discounted rate and only applies to tattoos where we are unable to gauge how long the work will take.  Hourly rate pricing does not apply to tattoos that can be completed in a single session.  For more information on any of our artist’s hourly rates please call or visit our shops.

How much are your piercings?

Most of our piercing prices depend on the type of jewelry that you decide to go with, and we have a lot to choose from!  Please visit or call 12 Oz Deptford, 856 845 2222, Tuesday through Saturday for pricing inquiries.

Are you “by appointment only” or do you take walk-ins?

For tattoos we accept both walk-ins and appointments.  Walk-ins are “first come, first served”.  If we are unable to tattoo you as a walk-in then we can set you up with an appointment at a time that is more convenient for you.  In order to set up an appointment you must leave at least a non-refundable $50 deposit ($50 is our minimum for deposits.  Depending on the artist or other factors you may have to put more money down) .  Appointments can be made at any time, in person or over the phone.  If you are calling to set up an appointment you still must leave a deposit.   Also, depending on the tattoo you want you may be required to come in to our shop(s) with your design/idea and make your appointment in-person, so we can gauge how long the tattoo will take as well as provide you with an accurate price.  For rules concerning deposits and appointments please click here.

    1. Hi, Nia! I believe most of the inks they use are. However, I would still check with the artist who would tattoo you since they use a variety of inks.

    1. Hi Gretchen! Absolutely! All of our artists are certainly able to accomplish what you are looking for. Check out their portfolios and see what you think. Once you’ve narrowed it down we can set you up with a consultation with that artist.

    1. Hi Jacqueline. How old is the minor in question? We cannot have young children in the rooms when people are being tattooed. If the minor is a teenager then as long as the tattoo artist approves they can be in the room with you.

      1. He’s 10. I have him for the weekend he’s my cousin. I was planning on getting a tattoo tomorrow for my birthday!
